My Worst Sewing Nightmare – Glenda the Good (Bad) Stitch from Sure-Fit D...

I was in total shock and horrified that I had let this mistake happen!  My serger ate the fabric and gouged a large 'V'-shaped hole in the body of the garment!  What to do to fix it?  After I took many deep breaths, calmed down and analyzed the disaster, I came up with a viable solution.  Make sure to watch this video...this might have happened to you.

  1. The same thing happened to me twice. The first time it happened I essentially had to make the dress a bit tighter. The second time it happened I pressed a bit of interfacing there.

  2. Ohhh, I feel your pain, Glenda! I have never made the serger-hole mistake, but have made a similar mistake with the scissors when clipping threads and not being sure that all fabric layers were out of the way. I have used the interfacing patch on the inside trick, as Julie-Ann mentioned, not just for sewing mistakes, but for repair purposes on worn/torn items. If it is for a repair, where the fix doesn't have to be completely invisible, I also stitch with a honeycomb stitch over the area for extra security.
