Drawing Common Hip Shapes Part 5: the Addendum by Sure-Fit Designs™

The comparison and conclusion - all 3 hip shapes are laid one on top of the other so that you can really see the different outcomes side-by-side.  Sure-Fit Designs comes to the rescue no matter your shape and dimensions.  The resulting pants pattern reflects your unique measurements.  You'll appreciate the results.

  1. Thanks for this series on hip fitting. None of the shapes are a good match for me.
I am straight, with flat butt, from high hip to hip, so look square from high hip down. I also look generally square front in, because G cup boobs on petite, with underbust my narrowest point, means most clothes hang straight from boobs. With extra wide upper back, back and side view looks hourglass.
I have no gap between ribs and hips, so my 31" waist jumps out to 37" just 1" down from my waist at my high hip (5'2" petite squashes everything vertically). This gives me a heart waist shaping, not because of padding but of skeletal structure. It is so sharp from waist to high hip that I either hang bottoms from just above high hip or use curved waistband.
Below the hip, I have to scoop the crotch for my flat butt, but extend the crotch curve to wrap around the extra front width I need for prominent thighs.
So from waist to high hip I am heart, from high hip to hip I am square, and from hip down I need the crotch extension (but not sloped curve) of diamond.

  2. Great series of videos, Glenda. Very helpful in seeing how the hip shapes actually translate into drawing the patterns, and how they compare to each other.
