Joy's Pink Favorite

Joy has an entire closet full of SFD blouses.  She says, 'This is one of my most favorite blouses of all.  I made four little pleats in the sleeve to take in the fullness, and it is so cute, I think.'  It doesn't have any bust darts, which indicates that the Sure-Fit Designs Shirt Kit was used as the basic pattern.

  1. Your blouse looks great on you Joy!
I am hoping to buy my kit in a month or so, and hope I can get great fitting tops as this is one of my most difficult problems (FBA for a petite frame and 38/40DDD)
Keep up the nice work and posts!

  2. Patty, With the Adjust-A-Bust template, you will no longer have to do that tedious FBA. Since all manufacturer's produce different cup shapes for their designated sizes, when you are choosing your dart from the template, you may need to go up to the E dart shape. If you need to go beyond the 'E', please read this article - http://www.surefitdesigns.com/Tips_Techniques.html - 'Beyond E - Darts for Large Busts' found on this page.

Also make sure you watch - 'Refining the Fit: Dress Armscye Modifying/Scooping the Armscye Curve' found on this page - http://www.surefitdesigns.com/Dress-Videos-Drawing-Designing.html.

  5. I am reading blog posts this morning as my order for the Shirt kit, Dress kit and new dress ideas went in yesterday I have the pants kit already. Thank you for the link for the armscye curve, I would think there is a great difference b/w the dress fit and the blouse fit and really did not know where to start~ I love blouses,~ I am used to the Lands End blouse fit which is fairly close, and has darts up the sides in the front and the back but also have older ones that do not have this feature~ I would think if I had to measure that one would be closer to the dress kit( the more fitted) and the older ones I wear for here at home would be closer to the shirt kit~
Either way I want more! i have not purchased quality shirting fabric ever,,,, does anyone know if good shirting fabric has the country of origin marked on it?? Same question w/ good quilting fabric ( I am starting on a quilt for DGD today also,, Today I am going to measure and also cut out my quilt pieces AND spend time looking for really good fabrics for blouses, cottons/linens etc Joy~your tops are an inspiration!
    Blessings to all,,,,,PAB
